Found a box of 1980s Star Wars figures at a yard sale — what now?

Picked up a shoebox of loose Kenner Star Wars figures for $5 this weekend. Most have weapons missing but a couple look complete. How do I figure out which ones are worth keeping vs. listing? Any tips on cleaning grime off vintage plastic without wrecking the value?

Five bucks for a box of vintage Kenner is a steal even with missing weapons. Lay them out, note any copyright dates stamped on the back, and check completeness — those details drive value the most.

Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush is the safe limit. Never use solvents or magic erasers — they dull the finish and strip painted details.

Once they're sorted, photograph the whole lot together AND the best ones individually. Buyers love a clear group shot for a haul like this.
